Ariel is the main character in The Little Mermaid. She undergoes many a change throughout the film. Her biggest flaw, perhaps, is that she is so willing and easily manipulated into giving into temptation. Sound familiar? Probably because the same thing happens to Eve in the Garden of Eden. When put in the Garden, she is told not to touch the Tree of Knowledge. While living under the sea, Ariel is told to go nowhere near the human world. In both cases, these women are easily persuaded by the devil or Ursula the Sea Witch to give into the temptation, thus sinning and resulting in both of them being punished. Eve is doomed to have painful child birth for her and all women after her, and Ariel almost permanently loses her voice and the man she loves, all because Eve goes against the wishes of God and Ariel goes agains those of her father, King Triton.
